A lista dos locais a visitar em 2017 do Jornal The New York Times colocou a Comporta em 25º lugar como um dos locais a visitar e este mês foi a vez do Jornal Britânico the Telegraph que considerou a 
Comporta como the "Portugal's chicest beach retreat".

The list of places to visit in 2017 of The New York Times put Comporta in 25th place as one of the places to visit and this month it was the turn of the British - The Telegraph, that considered Comporta
the "Portugal's chicest beach retreat".

Nos últimos anos, esta aldeia de cultivo de arroz foi descoberta por Christian Louboutin e Philippe Starck entre outros conhecidos como sendo uma fuga perfeita para um discreto descanso, ambos compraram casas próximas e Madonna também já la foi vista algumas vezes.

In recent years, this rice-farming village has found favour as a discreet escape for the likes of Christian Louboutin and Philippe Starck, who both have homes nearby, and Madonna.

No verão passado uma das vezes que eu almoçei no conhecido restaurante Sal, tive a "companhia" da tão conhecida tenista Sharapova.

Last summer one of the times I had lunch at the well-known Sal Restaurant, I had the "company" of the well-known tennis player Sharapova.

Felizmente, a chegada destes visitantes não parece ter alterado o caráter da Comporta. A aldeia low-key é simples em vez de bonita, mas tem uma configuração diferente de qualquer outro lugar.

Fortunately, the arrival of those high-profile visitors doesn’t seem to have altered Comporta’s character. The low-key village is plain rather than pretty, but it has a setting unlike anywhere else.

Situado numa faixa da costa do Alentejo, as suas casas de um andar (ocasionalmente cobertas de palha) ficam ao lado de um patchwork de arrozais verdes brilhantes que dão lugar a quilómetros de dunas de areia e locais para a pratica de surf. A área circundante é coberta por extensas florestas de pinheiros e sobreiros no qual se destacam bonitas casas de arquitetura modernista, muitas construídas sobre palafitas acima da areia e algumas disponíveis para alugar.

Set on a fertile strip of the Alentejo coast, its single-storey houses (occasionally thatched) sit alongside a patchwork of bright green rice paddies that give way to miles of sand dunes and powerful surf. The surrounding area is cloaked by swathes of sweet-smelling pine and cork forests that mask beautiful, modernist glass villas, many built on stilts above the sand and some available to hire (see below).

A Comporta já foi comparada a Ibiza antes das grandes multidões, mas não há vida nocturna, apenas uma costa de praia com areia branca . Também foi comparado a St Tropez por descobrir, mas a comparação colide com  a sua vibe pela natureza.

Comporta has been compared to Ibiza as it was before the crowds arrived, but there are no clubs and only one sand-in-your-toes beach bar. It has also been likened to an undiscovered St Tropez, but the comparison jars with the village’s unshowy, back-to-nature vibe.

Em vez disso, o seu espírito boêmio, ao som de bossanova e as suas praias de ondas fazem-me pensar se seria assim a praia de Búzios no Brasil antes da chegada de Brigitte Bardot.

Instead, its bohemian spirit, bossanova soundtrack and wave-pounded beaches make me wonder if this is what Brazil’s Buzios was like before the arrival of Brigitte Bardot.
